things to do in beacon, ny

If you’re wondering (which you’re probably not), I love doing things by myself (which I’ve talked about a lot on here, probably too much). Which is why I planned a trip to Beacon by myself for a long weekend. I’ve written another post on traveling by yourself, but I won’t get into that now. I think everyone could use some time alone, so if you’re looking for ideas on what that might look like, here are some of my favorite activities to do alone that I did on a long weekend in Beacon, New York.

Dia is definitely the biggest draw to visiting Beacon, which always impresses me. I’ve been twice now and have enjoyed each trip for different galleries they’ve had. The thrift shops are super cute and as quaint as the town itself. Some of my favorites are Vintage Beacon and Blackbird Attic, but if you walk down Main street, stop in the stores and you’ll find some cute stuff along the way.

Lastly, there are some outdoor activities you can do if you’re into that kind of stuff. I use the app AllTrails to find hikes. You can find trails that fit exactly what you’re looking for, whether it’s moderate or hard, dog-friendly, etc.

I know these things aren’t for everyone, so if you’re not into walking aimlessly through a museum or purposefully on a hiking trail, maybe this is not the itinerary for you, but there are plenty of other options to try including restaurants, movies, bars, etc. that are all very fun in the area as well. I’d give it a day trip try to see if you vibe with the town and then come back for a weekend if it’s something you enjoy.

  1. I have never been to America before so this all sounds interesting. My whole family are hoping to do a New York trip. Thank you for your suggestions.
